      Hey zoo.ee

Hope you had a good week at school and have some fun stuff to do this weekend!

Well, I love microbiology and think it would great for you to be one too. microbiology means you get to learn about viruses and bacteria and fungi and parasites and I think they are all pretty cool things. You could work on developing vaccines to prevent diseases or you could work on finding cures for diseases. You could learn about how some microorganisms behave in the body and that could help other people develop vaccines or cures.

Some bacteria are also used to clean up oil spills or degrade plastic so you could help the environment by being a microbiologist. They can clean up water too, so that could help conserve it for people who need it or provide clean water in areas where that isn’t possible.

There is a lot of work at the moment called microbiome work where people are discovering loads of new microorganisms every day and we still don’t know much about them, so there is lots of work to be done there learning about new species!

Wow! Being a microbiologist means you can do so many things! Thanks for the question, that’s really reminded me of how awesome my job is!
