• Question: when are you going to win the nobel prize?

      I believe that will be the same day when I look out of my 3rd floor office window and see a large pig flying.

      I think I need to do at least 20 years of a research career before I could ever hope for this, but you never know, discoveries happen all the time. However, a lot of the prizes are awarded due to the impact they have had, and impact takes time. Especially these days..Need to win this competition first!

      Dang, Andy beat me to the witty comment.

      I don’t think I’m likely to get a Nobel Prize because I do such applied science. I wondered if I could win a Kavli Prize some day for some of the nano work I do. Kavli’s like the Nobel Prize, but in some fields that aren’t covered by the Nobel Prize like neuroscience, astrophysics and nanotech. These didn’t really exist 100 years ago. There’s also a bit of country rivalry. Sweden hands out the Nobel prizes and Norway does the Kavli one.
