• Question: Do you think using chocolate in your lectures makes them more interesting?

      I certainly do and I bet hundreds of people who have seen my talks think so too (well I hope so).

      I think loads of things in science are best understood through analogy – giving you an example that you can relate to and using this to explain a concept. A lecture of crystal polymorphism would get me no votes for anything, make it about chocolate and most people can take something away form that lecture (and they get to eat a bit!)
