Right away, I want to make batteries that work on alcohol that will last for a week to a month. I hate charging my phone all the time, and I think anyone who feels the same way will benefit.
Later, I want to be able to make chemicals from renewable resources. You know how we make alcohol from barley or corn? We can make many more things from the parts we throw away. We’re learning how and getting better all the time.
Outside of science, I want to get married to my girlfriend, travel some more and taste food I’ve never tasted before.
I don’t think I will work in academia forever. I think my inventive side will end up being satisfied by having a shed in the garden I use for a workshop. Maybe I will start a bed and breakfast by the sea somewhere.
I would like to be a researcher and have my own research group in a university and teach as well.
I would like to earn enough money to get a cool flat on my own where I can invite my friends and family without bothering any flatmate and travel as much as I can.
My over all life goal is to be happy and healthy and doing a job I love. My ultimate dream job goal would be to be an epidemic intelligence officer where you get to travel to ‘hot zones’ where there are outbreaks and try to track down the source.
At the moment I’m writing a paper (it’s how scientists tell each other about their discoveries) so I’d love to get that published. I should be finishing my PhD next summer so I’ve got to decide what I’m going to do next!
